How the ZPC Verification Process Works

The ZeroPlastic Commitment Verification is designed to be practical and progressive. Here’s how your organization can move from intent to impact — one step at a time.

Step 1: Get Started with ZPC Engaged

Begin your journey by applying.
You’ll complete a detailed plastic self-assessment to understand where your organization stands today. Once reviewed and validated by our Verification Body (Control Union), you’ll receive ZPC Engaged Status — a formal recognition that you're committed to reducing plastic use.

Step 2: Build Your Plastic Reduction Plan

Design your roadmap for progress.
Based on your self-assessment, create a customized Plastic Reduction Plan (PRP) tailored to your operations. You’ll also set up a Plastic Management System (PMS) to coordinate policies, procurement, training, and internal systems. Includes: goals, actions, timelines, substitutions, and monitoring tools.

Step 3: Start Taking Action

Implement, educate, and engage.
Start executing your PRP. Begin by removing unnecessary Single-Use Plastics (SUPs), engaging suppliers, training staff, and documenting your improvements. Align all key departments with your sustainability goals.

Step 4: Track & Improve

Measure your impact. Adjust as needed.
Monitor your reduction progress using real data. Conduct internal audits, update your PRP, and make course corrections if needed. This is your opportunity to optimize before the final review.

Step 5: Get Verified

Earn your official ZPC Verification.
A third-party audit will be conducted by Control Union. Once successful, you'll be awarded your verification — ZPC Level 1 (Silver), Level 2 (Gold) depending on your progress. You can now publicly claim your verification and use the ZPC logo!
🕒 Timeline: Month 11

Step 6: Renew & Elevate

Stay Verified. Aim higher.
Your verification is valid for 12 months. To maintain or upgrade your status, simply renew by submitting progress updates and undergoing an annual audit. You can climb from Level 1 to Level 2 over time. 🔁 ZPC is a journey, not a checkbox.
